Can not decide on Cruise Control and Overdrive Merrell and Vasque Blur and Mercury?
I've been using a couple of pairs of shoes and a tennis Asics very old trail Skechers shoes for everyday use and for light trail running. I can not find the same patterns over and not worry about the style of some of newer ones. So I started testing both of Merrell shoes and Basque. I only used the Cruise Control Merrell shoes a couple of times (not running) and found the sole, to be a little hard, not painful in itself, but not a good Asics. I read the comments of others and have not heard many complaints. Maybe I'm too used to Asics? Anyway, I would like some information from others who have used Cruise Control Merrell, Merrell Overdrive, and Vasque Velocity Vasque Blur Vasque Mercury and could give me your opinion about some of the advantages and disadvantages of each shoe. Part of my problem is that a shoe will feel great on the carpet in a tent or wooden floor, but feels very different when used for a period of time Extened.
To be completely honest, the shoes are a very personal thing. You can get an idea of purpose shoes in the website / marketing, but until you try, the opinions in the world means nothing. In testing, find a partner think you might like, then walking around the store for 5 or 10 minutes, jumping up and down, up the material if there are obstacles. Places like REI often have little ramps and things for better sensation. If vendors get pushy, I say that is lost or take their business elsewhere. Cruise Control Merrell and Vasque Velocity are motion control shoes, if you have good mechanics of the foot, do not buy any of these. If you need motion control, just look at them. Merrell Shoe Overdrive is a great round, but not if you have flat feet. The Vasque Blur has received very positive feedback, but if you feel well, is of no use. The Basque Mercury is a lighter weight, more soft shoes. Depending on the paths that run in and where you go, this may or may not be good. Some sellers of footwear offer good apples to apples comparisons of the characteristics of the shoe. Some stores have machines that can run in, analyze your running style, and can choose the perfect shoes for you. Other advice, do not limit yourself to the Basque or Merrell, there are many companies out there. Nor can it be limited because of a style of shoe, unless you really are not interested in the running. If it really is on the march, not sacrifice comfort for color. Trust me, not worth it in the long term. The only other thing I mention when is a pair that you really like, go buy 2 or 3 couples. You can rotate through them, or use one and go to the next.
